Join us to save Amina Lawal

Amina Lawal is a young woman who is sentenced to death by stoning, under the Islamic law in Nigeria, for having extra marital relationship.  Her court hearing will be held on June 3rd 2003.  The court will decide when her stoning sentence will be carried out.

In the light of the international pressure, we have been able to annul Safiyeh Hosseini’s stoning sentence in Nigeria and suspend stoning in Iran.  We must continue our fight to a complete abolishment of stoning and all other cruel Islamic punishments.  The brutal act of stoning must not be tolerated in the 21st century.

The International Committee against Stoning is initiating a mass protest against Amina Lawal’s sentence and calls upon all women and civil rights' organisations worldwide to participate in these rallies and join forces to end the practice of stoning.
